2025: Resilience Scanner: Leveraging AI to Accelerate Global Adoption of Municipal Climate Adaptation Technologies
AI has tremendous potential to amplify municipal investments in climate adaptation and resilience solutions. However, information about available and deployed technology-enabled adaptation and resilience solutions is scattered, incomplete, and out of date. As a result, many city leaders are unaware of solutions being implemented elsewhere, and many investors and innovators are unaware of potential markets for their solutions. To fill this gap, Townsend will create a comprehensive global source of knowledge about technology-enabled climate adaptation and resilience (A&R) solutions at the municipal level. Four key project goals are to: (1) highlight the potential for AI to amplify ongoing and planned investments, (2) cross-fertilize existing A&R technologies across cities, (3) identify areas of strong demand to strengthen the case for private sector investment, (4) identify gaps in the innovation system that can be addressed through philanthropic investment.
