Lindsay Anderson
Associate Professor: Biological and Environmental Engineering
Lindsay Anderson is an Associate Professor in Biological and Environmental Engineering in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the Norman R. Scott Sesquicentennial Faculty Fellow, Interim Director of the Cornell Energy Systems Institute, and a former Faculty Director at Cornell Atkinson. Her overarching goal is to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon energy future. She is particularly interested in the effective integration of wind and solar resources, through the leveraging of distributed and demand-side resources. Anderson’s approach to this problem is through the improvement of operational strategies to include supply and demand-side resources in frameworks for optimization under uncertainty. Professor Anderson’s research interests focus on the application of systems modeling and optimization to energy and the environment. Current projects include mitigation of wind generation uncertainty through the use of other renewable energy sources, the cost of wind energy uncertainty on existing power systems, and the implications of process uncertainties in biofuels production outcomes.
