Allison M. Chatrchyan
Attending COP28
Allison M. Chatrchyan is a Research Associate in the School of Integrative Plant Science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University. Her work focuses on the interface between social, environmental, and agricultural systems and multi-level governance of climate change.
Dr. Chatrchyan facilitates interdisciplinary research and extension teams that are developing resources and tools for climate change adaptation and mitigation, including the Cornell Climate Smart Farming Program and the Cornell Climate Stewards Program. An expert on Climate-Smart Agriculture, Dr. Chatrchyan is co-chair of the Agriculture Chapter of the new New York State Climate Impacts Assessment (2023), co-lead with the Global Alliance for Climate-Smart Agriculture, and is an Armenian Party Delegate to the UN Climate Talks for the Sharm el-Sheikh joint work on implementation of climate action on agriculture and food security at COP28. She co-leads the Education Focus on the new AI-Climate Institute for Climate-Smart Agriculture and Forestry, led by Dr. Shashi Shekhar and Dr. David Mulla from the University of Minnesota, Dr. Johannes Lehmann, and Dr. Carla Gomes at Cornell University, and Dr. Keith Paustian at Colorado State University. Dr. Chatrchyan is also part of the interdisciplinary funded project from Cornell Atkinson with Dr. Sadaf Sobhani, developing new CO2 Conversion Reactors.
She is an Adjunct Professor of International Environmental Law and Policy at Cornell Law School and also co-teaches Environmental Law and Policy with Dr. Jeff Rachlinski. Dr. Chatrchyan received her Ph.D. in international environmental politics from the University of Maryland and received her B.A. with Honors in Government and Environmental Studies from Colby College.
